I ALWAYS CARRY A HANDGUN, and either a 12 gauge shotgun or a .357 mag. carbine rifle or Bear Pepper, every time I go outside to work, especially after dark! What would you carry, on you, if you had a bad Grizzly Bear in your area? Well, why should you treat an unpredictable Sasquatch any different? (Most people are unaware that many people go missing in our State and National Parks and in our National Forest too. There are so many, that there are Books written about this, “Missing 411.”
I would not consider any handgun, smaller than and including a 9mm for protection against a Grizzly Bear or a Bigfoot. A .357 magnum, or a .44 magnum or a .45 Long Colt can be comparable. There are .41 magnums, 10 mm’s, and .50 calibers handguns out there, to choose from.
The more powerful the handgun, the heavier they are to carry. Choose wisely what you want to carry, and remember what you are dealing with. I really would not advise anyone to carry a handgun as my only defense against any animal the size of a Bigfoot or a Grizzly Bear, but people do this all the time. Bear Pepper spray, is another option to consider if packing light. I consider most handguns, as a close range back up weapon (for a head shot, preferably from the side/temple area). A magnum handgun caliber in a carbine rifle, is light weight, plus it has more power and velocity than out of a wheel gun, a Revolver.
Any 12 gauge shotgun, (not a single shot or a side by side) with double 00 Buckshot, backed up with rifle slugs, is a good choice, but has a limited range, [50 yards for Rifle Slugs, 25 yards for Buckshot]. Only my opinion.
Years ago, I was planning a Grizzly Bear/Moose combo hunt. The rifle I chose was a .338 Winchester Magnum; I still own this rifle, it is still my first choice. Please realize that I have Bigfoot Creatures living around my property. A 30-06 rifle, with 200-220 grain bullets, I consider adequate to kill a Grizzly Bear, or a Bigfoot; always remember that these Bigfoot Creatures do not hunt alone, so neither should we. So, be prepared for the one you do not see, behind you.

Fall 2018: Had a visitor and is a good example of guns used. When he, Eliot Ness, arrives in the morning the Creatures will still be active, and even watching him approach the house. After I feel they have left the area for the day I will show him around, looking for signs of the Bigfoot. He will carry his 9mm handgun, which may be useless, but he is familiar with it and that is important. I, will loan me a shotgun to him..
As far as the 9mm, if a shepherd boy can stop a Giant with a perfectly placed stone, then how much more a 9mm blast between the eyes? Ouch, hopefully we don’t find out.
Eliot Ness: “Best case scenario is that we see the Bigfoot (singular or plural) and they communicate why they have been harassing Wyman, his animals, and his property. No I am not serious, fat chance, I know. Even though we mean it/them no harm, we would be foolish not to be prepared. Guaranteed I will ask for some Bear Repellent, and a can of “air horn.” I am guessing that Young David, would have used a bazooka against Goliath, if one had been offered.”
What happened? Eliot chose not to bring his 9mm, and so he carried the 12 gauge shotgun, bear spray, and my .44 Magnum hand gun; seen in above photo, upside down on bottom of photo. (December 1, 2018)
